ruth gamble: actor, writer & farmer who fits in your pocket
I'm currently in Pittsburgh rehearsing for the world premiere of Electric Baby, a play written by Stefanie Zadravec, directed by Daniella Topol, and produced by the wonderful Quantum Theatre. Click here to read an article about how the play was written by Stefanie before she knew how much it would turn around and help her when she needed it most...

![]() The weekend before coming to Pittsburgh, I flew to Paris and found some auditions on Craigslist. I got cast in this music video! I don't know what they are saying, but I think it came out real nice. It premiered at the Walsh Brothers Show at the Upright Citizen's Brigade Theatre in LA last month and from what I heard, people laughed at it. Which was the goal, whew. The music video, Le Stinky Pinky, is by French R & B band, Trois Tonez, who were popular in th 90's. It is on the comedy website Funny or Die and is currently 94% funny :) Please watch it if you have time. The views will help us and the French will help you brush up on your language skills? Click the pic to watch... P.S. Kirk Mason, Thommy Vacca, and Anthony DeVries, some of the gentlemen in this video, are our old friends from Chicago with whom Shane and I were on an improv team for two years! What a crazy coincidence that we were all in Paris at the same time... Toybox just shot the pilot for Urban Farmer at the farm where I volunteer, Hayground Organic. Urban Farmer follows the owners of the company, Jimmy Williams and his son, Logan, as they build edible gardens around Los Angeles. Part Lifestyle, part reality TV, Urban Farmer teaches the audience how to build gardens in different spaces, tend to the plants, and how to cook what they grow. I played myself, Ruthie, the actor who loves to farm. The video below isn't the pilot, but it's a peek into Jimmy's world via a book he wrote called from Seed to Skillet. Jimmy learned all about vegetable gardening at the knee of his grandmother, a South Carolina native from a traditional Gullah community whose members were descendents of Caribbean slaves. He pays homage to his family history in this super awesome step-by-step guide to designing and planting a backyard vegetable garden and growing one's own food. Jimmy shares how easy it is to plan a garden, design and construct growing beds, tend the crop without using harmful chemicals, harvest gorgeous vegetables, and cook a delicious feast using his favorite family recipes... |
