ruth gamble: actor, writer & farmer who fits in your pocket
![]() I'm so grateful and excited to be in Pittsburgh working again with Karla Boos' theatre company, Quantum Theatre, on the world premiere of The Electric Baby! It was written by Stefanie Zadravec and directed by Daniella Topol, two beautiful women who won the 2011 Women in the Arts and Media Coalition's Collaboration Award for their development of the play. What they have experienced personally while bringing this play together made working on the play even more fulfilling. The script is magical, realistic, funny, and incredibly moving all at the same time. And I get to work with my old friends, Robin Abrahamson and John Shepard, and new friends, Monteze Freeland and mother and son Laurie Klatscher and Nick Lehane. I've learned so much from this talented, warm, open, loving, hard-working, funny cast and production company. I was very nervous coming into this project for many reasons. But this play is about healing after someone you love dies, how people heal at different paces, how some get stuck in the loss, and others flow with life on a wave of serenity, faith, and stories. And the play has helped me continue to heal and grow personally in ways I never imagined. And as an actor, it is an incredible challenge! That challenge is a gift that I cherish. I'm doing my best to continue to grow. I'm very grateful Karla encouraged me to audition. And if you are near Pittsburgh, please come see the play!
